Most Nifty stocks are trading lower. JSW Steel and Tata Steel declined the most by over 2% after US President Donald Trump threatened to slap tariffs imports on steel and aluminum from all countries.

In terms of point contribution to the Nifty, HDFC Bank and Reliance Industries are the top draggers.

  • Fortis Healthcare: The company’s net profit surged 84% to Rs 248 crore in the quarter ended Dec. 31, 2024, beating analysts’ estimates, compared to Rs 135 crore in the same period last year.

  • Action Construction Equipment: The firm reported a strong third quarter performance, with revenue rising 16.2% to Rs 875 crore, its Ebitda went up 31.3% to Rs 135 crore, and net profit increasing 26.5% to Rs 112 crore.

  • Balu Forge Industries: The firm posted a notable third quarter performance, with revenue soaring 73.9% to Rs 256 crore, with Ebitda more than doubling to Rs 67.7 crore, and net profit rising to Rs 59 crore from Rs 25.2 crore.

  • Firstsource Solutions: The company reported a modest 8% increase in revenue to Rs 2,088 crore for the third quarter, slightly beating estimates. Concreting equipment player Ajax Engineering’s Rs 1,269-crore initial public offering is scheduled to open on Feb. 10. The price band for the IPO has been set in the range of Rs 599 to Rs 629 per share.

The market value at the upper end of the price band is Rs 7,196 crore, as per NDTV Profit‘s calculations. The proposed public offering consists of an offer-for-sale component and no fresh issue of shares.

The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) Tejas Mk-1A’s rollout is set to begin by the next financial year, as Hindustan Aeronautics Ltd. and General Electric have stabilized production. This comes despite previous production delays, though the Indian Air Force has already placed orders for the Tejas to replace its aging fleet. HAL’s production line is now stabilized, with a capacity of 24 aircraft per year, and GE has ensured a steady supply of engines.

Rupee Vs Dollar Live: Check Currency Level Today

The rupee strengthened 15 paise to 87.43 per dollar on Friday after the Reserve Bank of India delivered repo rate cuts in line with expectations.

The local currency has weakened in offshore market on US President Donald Trump’s tariff comments. The rupee is likely to open around 87.90 and trade a 87.80-88.10 range with weakening bias, according to analysts at India Forex And Asset Management Pvt. (IFA Global).

The three-month At-The-Money-Forward (ATMF) options’ implied volatility had ended at 3.73% on Friday but will spike again today as rupee opens at fresh all-time lows. One-year forward yield had ended at 2.23%, IFA Global said in its note.

The greenback has strengthened with the dollar index up 0.16% at 108.44.

  • Euro has come off 70 pips to 1.0310.

  • British Pound has dropped 40 pips to 1.2390.

  • Japanese Yen has weakened 50 pips to 152.

Stock Market Live: Nifty Set To Reclaim 24,000 Levels

The NSE Nifty 50 is likely to reclaim the psychological level of 24,000 if the sentiment changes in the forthcoming week, according to Aditya Gaggar, director of Progressive Shares. “In case of trend continuation, the Index can drag to 23,350,” he said.

The 200-day simple moving average for Nifty 50 is located near 23,830, according to Hrishikesh Yedve, assistant vice president, technical and derivatives research at Asit C Mehta Investment Intermediates Ltd. This 200 DSMA will serve as an immediate barrier for the index.

“Major support for the index (Nifty 50) is located near its previous swing low, which was around 23,260. If the index remains below 23,830, weakness will persist, suggesting a sell-on-bounce strategy,” he said.

US President Donald Trump on Monday said he plans to impose 25% tariffs on all imports of steel and aluminum. He said he would announce reciprocal tariffs this week on countries that tax American imports. Those would go into effect “almost immediately”, after an announcement, Bloomberg reported Trump saying.

Stock Market Live: Gift Nifty Trades Above 23,500

The GIFT Nifty was trading above 23,500 early on Monday, ahead of the stock market opening. The futures contract based on the benchmark Nifty 50 rose 0.31% or 72.50 points to 23,561 as of 7:30 a.m., indicating a likely higher start for the NSE index.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex declined for three session in a row on Friday, although ended higher on a weekly basis for the second week.

The Nifty 50 ended 43.40 points, or 0.18% down at 23,559.95, and the Sensex settled 211.41 points, or 0.27% lower at 77,846.74.
