The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened lower as private bank stocks weighed. Weakness in global equities due to geopolitical tension and US Federal Reserve’s caution over price pressure rise in the world’s largest economy also affected risk-sentiment in Indian markets.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex were trading 0.26% and 0.27% down, respectively.

Gold Prices Rebound After US Fed Warns About Price Pressure 

Gold prices rose early morning Thursday after the US Federal Reserve warned that inflation will likely to rise going forward. However, the central bank’s dot plot suggests for two more rate cuts this year.

Gold prices were trading 0.24% higher at $3,377.58 an ounce as of 7:52 a.m.

Oil Prices Fell Over 1% In Asia Session 

Oil prices declined over 1% in Asia session Thursday. The prices advanced for two session in a row till Wednesday as people were worried about increasing concern about Israel and Iran conflict.

The focus is now whether the US will get itself involved directly into the conflict. President Donald Trump has been conducting security meetings, as per news reports.

Brent crude was trading 0.30% down at $76.47 a barrel as of 7:45 a.m. The prices have declined 1.34% to $75.67 a barrel.

Asia Market Update: TAIEX Falls Over 1% Before Central Bank’s Rate Decision

Taiwan’s benchmark index, TAIEX fell over 1% early Thursday as investors await for the central bank’s rate decision. Taiwan’s rate-setting panel is most likely to hold rate steady, according to Bloomberg’s survey.

Markets in Japan, China, and South Korea fell as the US Federal Reserve warned about price pressure in the near term and slowing economic growth.

US Market Update: S&P 500 Settles Below 6,000 Level As Powell Warns About Inflation

Most US benchmarks erased gains after the US Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell expressed caution about imminent inflation and slow economic growth.

The US rate central bank kept rate steady at 4.25–4.5% range.

Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.10% to 42,171.66, and S&P 500 fell 0.03% at 5,980.87. Nasdaq Composite rose 0.13% at 19,546.27

GIFT Nifty Implies Lower Open; Hero MotoCorp, Jio Finance, Siemens Shares In Focus

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.27%, or 66 points down at 24,743.00 as of 6:44 a.m., which implied a negative open for the benchmark Nifty 50. The index may find support between 24,650-24,700, according to analysts.

Investors may focus on Ashoka Buildcon Ltd., Hero MotoCorp Ltd., Jio Financial Services Ltd., and Siemens Ltd. shares because of the news flow overnight.

On Wednesday, the benchmark equity indices continued to decline for the second straight day, dragged by share prices of ICICI Bank Ltd. and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd.

The NSE Nifty 50 ended 41.35 points, or 0.17% lower at 24,812.05, while the BSE Sensex closed 138.64 points, or 0.17% down at 81,444.66.
