Nifty, Sensex Today| Opening Bell: Nifty, Sensex Rise At Open

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex opened slightly higher as Reliance Industries Ltd., ICICI Bank Ltd., and HCLTech Ltd. shares advanced. While US President Donald Trump’s soft stance on China improved risk sentiment, weakness in Asian equities, and rise in safe-haven Gold prices weighed on the equities.

The Nifty 50 and Sensex were trading 0.26% and 0.22% higher, respectively as of 9:22 a.m.

MCX Raises Silver Contract Margin Amid Global Price Volatility

Multi Commodity Exchange of India Ltd. raised the margins on both gold and silver contracts by 1% and 1.5%, respectively, to manage risks. Global silver prices have been highly volatile recently, with shortages reported in physical markets. The problem has spilt over into domestic markets.

MCX provides trading in 30-kilogram and 5 kg silver futures and options contracts, as well as 1 kg silver futures contracts.

Gold and silver prices are trading at record highs amid caution over evolving trade relation between US and China. Although President Donald Trump said that there is unlikely any hostile step against China, market participants exercised caution.

The Bloomberg spot silver price rose 1.19% to $52.99 as of 8:11 a.m. The Bloomberg spot gold rose 0.96% to $4,149.82 an ounce.

Japan’s benchmark indices, Nikkei 225 and TOPIX delcined along with the yen as the political crisis deepened. Market participants assessed the fall of rulling coalition in the country.

The Nikkei 225 and TOPIX were trading 0.68% and 0.62% down, respectively as of 7:22 a.m.

US Market Update: S&P 500 And Nasdaq 100 Futures Advance 

US futures rose on Tuesday as trade tension between US and China eased slightly. New deals in information and technology also renewed optimism over technology.

OpenAI agreed to buy custom chips and networking equipment, Bloomberg reported.

The S&P 500 and Nasdaq 100 futures were trading 0.21% and 0.30% higher, respectively as of 7:16 a.m.

Traders will monitor HCLTech Ltd., Anand Rathi Wealth Ltd., Tech Mahindra Ltd., KFin Technologies Ltd., Oil India Ltd. because of the second-quarter results and overnight newsflow.

The NSE Nifty 50 and BSE Sensex snapped a two-day winning streak. The Nifty 50 ended 0.23% or 58 points lower at 25,227.35, and the Sensex settled 0.21% or 173.77 points lower at 82,327.05.
