The July contract of Brent crude was trading 2.47% higher at $64.34 a barrel as of 7:52 a.m.

Asia Market Update: Hang Seng Falls Nearly 2% As US-China Trade Tensions Back In Focus 

The Hang Seng index fell nearly 2% and the Nikkei 225 fell over 1% as tensions between US and China increased again after US President Donald Trump threatened to impose 50% tariff on aluminum and steel import after accusing China of breaching agreed terms of trade.

The Hang Seng and Nikkei 225 were trading 1.94% and 1.37% down, respectively as of 7:36 a.m.

US Market Update: End Mixed As Traders Assess Trade Relation Between US & China 

US share indices ended on a mixed note on Friday while traders assessed the current status of trade relation between the US and China. President Donald Trump accused China of breach agreed terms of negotiations.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended 0.13% higher. The S&P 500 and Nasdaq Composite ended 0.01% and 0.32% down, respectively.

GIFT Nifty Implies Lower Open; Apollo Hospitals, Infosys, Vodafone Shares In Focus

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.12% or 29 points lower at 24,879.50 as of 6:43 a.m., which implied a negative start for the benchmark NSE Nifty 50.

Investors will focus on Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd., Infosys Ltd., Vodafone Idea Ltd., Indian Oil Corp, and Cipla Ltd. share prices because of the overnight news flow and earnings.

The benchmark equity indices closed lower on Friday, marking the second week of losses. The NSE Nifty 50 ended 82.9 points or 0.33% lower at 24,750.7 and BSE Sensex ended 182.01 points or 0.22% lower at 81,451.01.
