Asia-Pacific stock gauges were trading in red in early trade on Friday, tracking overnight losses on Wall Street as traders pull their money out of risky assets amid uncertainty over tariff.

The Nikkei 225 and Kospi were trading 1.57% and 0.39% down, respectively. The S&P ASX 200 was 1.42% lower as of 7:13 a.m.

On Thursday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average and S&P 500 ended 0.99% and 1.78% lower, respectively. The Nasdaq Composite declined 2.61%.

Brent crude was trading 0.19% higher at $69.59 a barrel as of 7:05 a.m., as per data on Bloomberg terminal. The Bloomberg spot gold was trading 0.10% down at $2,908.98 an ounce.

The GIFT Nifty was trading 0.12% or 27.50 points higher at 22,555.00 as of 7:16 a.m.

Benchmark indices extended gains for the second consecutive session on Thursday. The NSE Nifty 50 reclaimed the 22,500 level after five sessions, while the BSE Sensex crossed the 74,000 mark.

The Nifty 50 ended 207.4 points, or 0.93%, higher at 22,544.7, while the Sensex gained 609.8 points, or 0.83%, to close at 74,340.09.

Foreign portfolio investors remained net sellers for the 11th straight session, offloading equities worth approximately Rs 2,377.3 crore. Domestic institutional investors were net buyers for the 21st session, purchasing stocks worth Rs 1,617.8 crore, as per provisional NSE data.

  • Kalpataru Projects International: KPIL bagged new orders worth Rs 2,306 crore for transmission and distribution business in overseas markets and building projects in India.

  • Jindal Stainless: Completed the sale of a 26% stake in Jindal Coke for Rs 195 crore.

  • NMDC, NMDC Steel: The government appointed Amitava Mukherjee as the chairperson and MD from March 6, 2025, till his superannuation on Feb. 29, 2028.

  • Eris Lifesciences: The company is set to sell its complete stake in the two arms to unit Eris Therapeutics for the sum of Rs 862 crore.

  • Bharat Electronics: The company secured additional orders worth Rs. 577 crore, bringing the total accumulated orders received by BEL during the current financial year to Rs.13,724 crore.

  • Brigade Enterprises: The company announced the launch of Brigade Altius in Chennai, a premium residential project with a revenue potential of Rs 1,700 crore.

  • Bajaj Finserv: The firm’s unlisted insurance subsidiaries Bajaj Allianz General reported a gross direct premium at Rs 1,219 crore, while Bajaj Allianz Life Insurance Co. reported a total premium at Rs 1,080 crore.

  • Firstsource Solutions: The firm launched Agentic AI Studio which uses AI to break down work into specialized tasks. The platform aims to integrate AI into operations, to make it more accessible.

  • Biocon: Biocon Biologics Ltd. and Civica Inc reported forming a strategic collaboration agreement to expand access and affordability of Insulin Aspart in the United States.

  • Avenue Supermarts: The firm opened four new stores in Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab. This brought their total number of stores as of Thursday to 396.

  • Tata Consultancy Services: TCS signed an expanded deal with Northern Trust, a global financial institution, to centralise and standardise its custody operations across 99 direct and global markets.

  • Power Grid Corp.: The firm was declared as a successful bidder under tariff-based competitive bidding for three projects to establish the interstate transmission system under build, own, operate and transfer basis.

  • Greenply Industries: Received a favourable court ruling on tax litigation and an income tax refund of Rs 18.46 crore.

  • Mangalam Cement: Received an assessment order from the Department of Mines and Geology with a financial impact of Rs 11.3 crore.

  • Sandur Manganese & Iron Ores: Subsidiary Arjas Steel received a demand notice and assessment order from the Income Tax Department for Rs 62.2 crore.

  • Laurus Labs: Approved an investment of Rs 83.3 crore in KRKA Pharma to acquire land and set up a manufacturing facility for new markets, including India.

  • Rail Vikas Nigam: RVNL received an LoA from South Western Railway for a Rs 156.4-crore project.

  • Entero Healthcare Solutions: Invested Rs 17 crore in Getwell on a rights basis, increasing its stake from 85% to 95.2%.

  • Quality Power Electrical Equipments: Acquired a 51% stake in Mehru Electrical for Rs 120 crore through a share purchase agreement.

The Indian rupee erased early gains to close weaker despite the Reserve Bank of India’s liquidity infusion. The currency declined 15 paise to settle at 87.11 against the US dollar after opening seven paise stronger, according to Bloomberg data.
